A Distance Learning Course in 6 Modules for OSINT practitioners to refresh their knowledge and skills.

This course is for OSINT practitioners that might have got into a rut, using the same limited set of processing techniques in their investigations. It is well suited for returners and self taught investigators, but it is not appropriate for beginners.

The training will bring you up to speed with the GDPR which affects every investigation and the OSINT capabilities that are well established, but where the processing techniques might have changed and developed.

If you have not had any OSINT since Facebook deprecated the graph search and TikTok gained traction, this course is for you!

Each module of the OSINT Refresher DLC includes two items of material for each module.

1. A video recording of a recent Live Online Training (LOT) event.
The trainee gets to see how each process is performed.

2. A Help Notes & Links file in PDF
The pages in this file correlate to the slides in the LOT with step-by-step process descriptions and links to all of the online resources covered in the module.

Both the video and the PDF can be viewed on the Axeten server, or they can be downloaded.

Course Code Class: DLC-P-R

CPD Credits: 24 Hours

The OSINT Refresher course explains and demonstrates, with recordings of a live training, the well established techniques and resources that make up much the extensive attack surface available to the OSINT practitioner.

The practitioner will have acquired the capability to deploy a wide selection of OSINT techniques.

Module 1: Legislation and lawful processing & Synthetic Identities

The GDPR and similar legislation in other jurisdictions and the implications for all OSINT processing.

Privacy legislation in other jurisdictions that is similar to the GDPR might apply to OSINT practitioners in any jurisdiction & practicalities of creating and maintaining Synthetic Identities that not only keep the practitioner safe, but expedite processing activity and increase productivity. Well created and maintained SIs make work much more easy and less stressful.

Module 2: Processing Search Engines

Google Dorks and other advanced search queries including other types of search-engines with their limitations & capabilities with a focus on safe processing.

Module 3: Processing Images, Files and Communication Resources

Processing the meta data of digital files and the file content to locate intelligence that might be in plain sight or intentionally hidden & processing of smartphone apps with a browser version or an emulator.

Processing communication resources that include e-mail addresses, e-mails, phone numbers and smart phone applications via an emulator

Module 4: Social Media Platforms Part 1

Processing users and the content they publish on Instagram, X (Twitter), Threads, Linkedin and other social media platforms.

Module 5: Social Media Platforms Part 2

Processing users and the still and moving images (videos) content they publish on Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, Flicker, Vkontake and Odnoklassniki

Module 6: Blogs, Forums, Marketplaces, Databases and more with the Positive Identification of a Subject

Thinking it's 'probably the right person, because so much info seems to fit', is never good enough. For an investigation to proceed lawfully, the subject must be identified positively.

This module covers many of the techniques and resources covered in modules 2 - 5 that allow for a positive identification. Also covered are Blogs, Forums, Chatrooms, Online Marketplaces & an introduction to Data Breach.
