An Open Source Intelligence Managed Distance Learning Course (DLC) for Law Enforcement & wider Public Authority practitioners.
This is the Advanced Course covering all 18 modules.
The Open Source Intelligence DLC includes recordings of Live Online Training (LOT) events.
The advanced course introduces the trainee to all aspects of investigating online resources to locate intelligence and material. The Foundation component teaches the structure and legality of the process and explains how to stay safe while being effective.
The investigative techniques taught include advanced searching of Google and other search engines, the special techniques required to locate and effectively research the multitude of social media platforms and hundreds of online databases, websites, images, e-mails and other messaging applications and other online resources such as marketplaces, blogs, forums, archives, gaming and gambling platforms, and technical assets that include but are not limited to domains, networks and the dark web.
The trainee will acquire the capability to safely deploy an investigation, in compliance with the legislation and how to locate and connect people and organisations through their online activity, even where an entity might have no intended on-line presence. The trainee will have the capability to safely gather intelligence and material, grade the evidence and compose a report with all of the attributes required for safe and effective litigation and where required, with graphic presentations of the evidence.
Trainees start the managed DLC, to coincide with an open Advanced Blended Online OSINT (BOOT) course.
There are 18 modules.
By e-mail, one module is delivered, each week, for 19 weeks.
There is an option to take a weekly test and a final exam.
The Final Exam is available on demand after the last module is delivered.
This format provides an option to upgrade to the concurrent or to a later Advanced BOOT course.
A weekly test provides trainees with a way to gauge their progress and customer organisations have some oversight capacity.
The weekly tests do not have any part in the assessment for certification.
At the end of the training, there is an option for each trainee to take final exam and receive a certificate
The final exam is online.
Each delegate can select their exam date within the 9 month term of the training.
The exam has about 60 multiple choice questions.
Time allowed: 120 minutes.
The candidate will require access to the internet to process live investigations.
Where the 70% pass mark is achieved, CPD credits are awarded.
Otherwise, a Certificate of Achievement is issued only for modules that are assessed by Axeten to have been passed as an outcome of the Final Exam.
CPD credits will be issued for only those modules.
Trainees might find that they struggle to complete the DLC and never feel confident about taking the final exam.
Because Axeten BOOT courses start regularly, its easy to upgrade and benefit from Live Online Training (LOT).
