An OSINT Foundation course to prepare Law Enforcement Officers and OSINT practitioners in wider Public Authorities for safe and effective processing of III (OSINT) investigations

This is a Private Blended Online OSINT Training for up to 20 law enforcement trainees.

All online investigators and their supervisors should have this knowledge.

Managers and executives with legal or procurement oversight of an III (OSINT) activity should attend the Foundation course.

ICT organisations that provide technical resources and services to organisations that process III (OSINT) investigations should attend the Foundation course.

This is a blended course with extensive back-ground information to provide the trainee with the knowledge required to make responsible decisions and to support other practitioners.
This course is not just theory. There are 15 hours of practical over five Live Online Training events.

Each module of the Foundation course includes 19 items of training material.

1. For each part of each module, a PDF, that provides back-ground information and extensive in-depth knowledge of the subject matter.

2. For each module, a Help Notes file that correlates to the slides in the Live Online Training (LOT) with step-by-step process descriptions and links to all of the online resources covered in the LOT. Trainees do not spend any time taking notes. All the notes they will ever need are provided. Trainees can focus on the LOT.

3. After each module, a video recording of the LOT is made available to each trainee. Never miss a thing with an Axeten Live Online Training.

Course Code Class: BOOT-U-F

A Private  BOOT for Public Authorities (BOOT-U) is available to any Law Enforcement Agency or a wider Public Authority with an investigation remit.

Each module of a BOOT course, is a blend of portable document files (PDFs) containing the extensive OSINT reading material and a Live Online Training (LOT).
The PDF(s) for a module are distributed to each trainee by e-mail one week before the LOT commences.

Also and prior to each LOT, a Help Notes PDF is provided that follows the slides in the LOT. There is no need for the trainee to take notes during the LOT.

For each module, the trainee should allow for 1 to 2 hours of study time, to read the material and perform the exercises, preferably before the LOT for that module.

The time for this activity is included in the CPD. So that of the 22 CPD hours for this course, 10 hours is study time, 11 hours is live training and 1 hour is tests & exam.

The reality is that many delegates read the PDFs in preparation for a Final Exam.  That is prudent as the subject matter of many exam questions is covered in the PDFs.
To get the most out of the training, where tools, techniques and resources are all demonstrated live and online, it is best to read the PDFs before the live training.

In the Foundation Course, it is only Module 3 : Setup & Operational Security and Module 4: Synthetic Identities, that have technical process demonstrations.

The private Live Online Training (LOT) events are delivered on Tuesdays or Thursdays. The client decides.

The typical duration of a LOT is 160 minutes, though the duration can range from 120 to 180 minutes for some modules.
The maximum duration of a LOT might be 240 minutes.

Each Live Online Training is intensive. The trainer covers the salient points of the module in some detail.
The LOT for modules 3 & 4 of the Foundation course include real-time live demonstrations.
Where time allows, the trainer might set a short quiz to see how the trainees are doing.

The Live Online Training is delivered through two platforms, concurrently. They are the privacy aware BraveTalk and Zoom.

Microsoft Teams is an option.

With BraveTalk, we provide one URL to connect and the same URL works for all modules on the course.
It is not necessary to download and install the Brave browser. You can connect with any browser, though Brave is a Chromium Browser and so BraveTalk does work better on another Chromium browser.
Learn all about browsers in module 3.

Zoom is not not privacy conscious. Even though Axeten has a premium account, Zoom will try to collect data about people connecting to the LOT.
So why do we use it? Because its popular and people rely on it.

Each LOT can be accessed from your office, from the delegate's home or even from a mobile device.

However, to fully participate and to process any tasks set by the trainer, during the Live Online Training, it's always more productive to use a desktop computer with two displays.
With one display, you can observe the training and on the other display, you can process any tasks set by the trainer.

After each weekly Live Online Training, the delegates should take a short online test.

The tests are not mandatory, but are highly recommended, particularly if there is an intention to take the final exam.

The weekly tests allow each trainee to assess their progress and to become familiar with the evaluation process, which is the same in the Final Exam.

Also, they allow the trainer to assess trainee progress and to provide 1-1 assistance if indicated.

The assistance is free and usually has two steps:-

1. Multiple choice exam techniques.
2. Understanding an OSINT question and how to determine the correct answer.

At the end of the Training, there is an option for each trainee to take final exam and receive a certificate
The final exam is online. Time can be taken to study the printed material before taking the exam.
Each delegate can select their exam date, up to 30 days after the end of the training.
The exam has about 20 multiple choice questions.
Time allowed: 15 minutes.
The candidate will require access to the internet to process certain techniques.
Where the 70% pass mark is achieved, CPD credits are awarded.
Otherwise, a Certificate of Attendance is issued with no CPD credits.

Each Live Online Training is recorded. Everyone who attends a module is eligible to receive the recording.
Delegates that are not able to attend a Live Online Training can request access to the recording.
There is no additional fee for the recording service.

Twice a year, Axeten conducts a complete review of all of the training material.
Also, there are reviews for both the Refresher & Updates courses.
Any significant update located during any review is applied to the training material.
All review and update activity is recorded and signed off by a director.

1. Where a trainee on a private group course is not able to attend a module, the trainee may take the missed module(s) on a subsequent open course. No charge.

2. An organisation may purchase more than one course. A practitioner that starts a course, may for any reason, suspend their participation in the course and defer to a later course.
On the later course, the practitioner can pick-up from where they left off, or start the whole course again. No Charge.
